A marketplace built to make creators feel like stars
Discover was a 0→1 marketplace designed to surface high-quality creators and live events on Teachable. I led the end-to-end design of the product, partnering with product and engineering to define the experience from scratch and ship an MVP under tight timelines. The goal was to create a new discovery surface that increased creator visibility, drove engagement, and unlocked new GMV.

Context
Teachable had strong creator tools, but limited mechanisms for students to discover new content.
This created a gap: high-quality creators struggled to gain visibility, and potential customers had no centralized place to discover content.
The space was becoming increasingly commoditized, making differentiation and discovery critical.
Discover was an experiment to address this—introducing a marketplace layer on top of the platform.
The team needed to validate the concept quickly without significant upfront investment, which shaped a lightweight MVP approach.

Decisions
1. Curated vs. open marketplace
We chose a curated approach to ensure quality and highlight top creators, rather than opening the platform broadly.
2. Emphasis on live events
We prioritized live experiences to create urgency and give creators a moment to stand out, rather than relying on drawing all of their customers by themselves.
3. Lightweight MVP scope
To move quickly, we focused on a simplified marketplace experience that could validate demand before investing further.
